‘’Sergas" Aims to Deliver Services to 40,000 Units by 2030

Mr. Mohammed Damak, CEO of the Sergas Group, commended the UAE's efforts toward achieving climate neutrality in line with Vision 2030, aiming to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2050. Speaking on the occasion of ADIPEC 2024, Damak stated: “ADIPEC is the most important and prominent event in the energy sector in the region. Abu Dhabi has successfully positioned itself as a leading energy destination by continuing to inject substantial investments into the oil and gas sector, launching renewable energy projects, and completing the UAE Nuclear Energy Project. These initiatives have enabled Abu Dhabi to become a global leader in the energy sector.” Damak further added: “The centralized gas system for homes has significantly contributed to reducing carbon emissions by phasing out over 8 million domestic gas cylinders in the UAE. This shift to centralized gas systems for homes and restaurants ensures safer usage, lowers carbon emissions, and reduces delivery costs. It has encouraged homeowners and businesses to adopt this system over traditional gas cylinders.” He noted: “Currently, Sergas provides centralized gas services to 26,000 residential units, with plans to increase this number to over 40,000 by 2030. The company has signed contracts to deliver centralized gas services to new major projects across the country.” Damak revealed that Sergas subsidiary Muzn Energy has proposed a project to liquefy natural gas in the UAE in collaboration with public and private entities. This ground-breaking project will mark a significant milestone in climate neutrality efforts by supplying liquefied gas to factories and remote areas, enhancing productivity, developing new urban communities, and increasing global competitiveness. He also announced that Sergas is on the verge of signing a strategic partnership agreement with a leading digital technology company to implement applications that promote sustainability in the gas sector, offering innovative advancements in energy.
Damak emphasized the importance of utilizing advanced solutions such as smart meters in homes and facilities using centralized gas systems. These systems improve reading accuracy and provide users with a better experience.
Expansion in Clean Energy

Damak highlighted Sergas Group’s shift toward clean energy, particularly the use of solar energy to generate electricity for residential projects in Oman. He noted that these projects operate entirely on solar power, reducing carbon emissions to near zero through modern, smart technologies. He added: “At Sergas, we plan our gas carrier routes using precise data analysis to minimize carbon emissions, allowing us to deliver liquefied gas to UAE customers with lower emissions and reduced costs.”
Geographical Expansion

Damak disclosed the company’s plans to expand into the African market by participating in an energy exhibition in Rwanda, establishing a presence in Djibouti, and opening a consultancy office in Tunisia. He stated: “We are exploring investment and operational opportunities across the African continent, leveraging over 40 years of experience in the gas and energy sectors to capitalize on the opportunities available in African nations.” Damak extended his gratitude to the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy for its efforts in developing the infrastructure for centralized gas systems in the emirate. Their measures ensure safe gas usage, support sustainability, and reduce carbon emissions. He concluded by announcing the launch of the Sergas mobile application, which allows customers to monitor their gas usage, pay bills electronically, and access services without needing to visit the company’s office.
